The Human Bit
I’m an agency creative who moved closer to making the work, I’m largely self-taught behind the camera, I’m drawn to films that feel human, character-led and narrative at heart, I love the moment an idea that once existed in a document suddenly becomes real on set, I believe filmmaking is a team sport and the best work usually comes from putting good people in a room and giving them something worth caring about, I’m fascinated by lighting, performance, composition, sound and all the tiny decisions that make a scene feel like something, I’m happiest moving between the idea, the shoot and the edit, I surf whenever the ocean allows it, I play keys and make little electronic sketches that rarely leave my laptop, I’m a surprisingly competent juggler, I dance when no one’s watching and occasionally when everyone is, I once briefly became Los Angeles’ first suspected Ebola case, it turned out to be salmonella, I’d love to shoot a short film on 35mm one day, and I’m still new enough to filmmaking to know there’s an enormous amount left to learn, which is probably the part I enjoy most.
